This is the parking meter from downtown Birmingham.

Just got back from Birminham, Alabama and thought I'd throw up a few images from the trip. We went to the Civil Rights Institute downtown which is directly across the street from the 16th Street Baptist Church which was the target of a racially motivated bombing in 1963. We also took a short road trip out to Irondale, AL which is home to the Irondale Cafe (the inspiration for the Whistlestop Cafe in Fried Green Tomatoes). To give you a glimpse of the food we encountered I have posted a picture of the famouse fried green tomatoes, a menu board which states that dessert is considered a vegetable and the slab of butter I received with my room service breakfast. It was obvioulsy a good trip.

Frog

This frog has moved into our garden pond.

Brick Whitewash

We wanted to brighten up this corner so we painted the bricks with a homemade whitewash. We used flat interior white paint (ceiling paint) and diluted it with water using a 50:50 ratio.
